Physically & Emotionally Drained

Wow!  It’s been a l.o.n.g. week for me.  I’ve been physically drained during the past week to ensure that my department’s event ran smoothly for a 2-day conference.  There were hiccups throughout due to slippages in service offered by the hotel, but praise God that everything’s come to an end & everyone enjoyed themselves regardless of a few minor hiccups along the way.

I’ve never realised how this could drain me so much physically over the week as there was a mixture of expectation, excitement & a little fear that these little slippages would affect the participants who hailed from 17 different countries.  Eventually, the slippages did affect our delivery as we were delayed and had to cut short our conference on the final day due to a lack of time, stemming from a delayed lunch served as the staff at the restaurant were new & inexperienced.  Nevertheless, I’m glad it’s over.

On Fri, I had to take half a day leave to take my dad for an interview for his kidney dialysis.  Chances are low that we’ll get any subsidy or any venue near our house, which means it’ll be very tiring for him to travel to & from for his dialysis 3 times weekly in the next month or so.  Thereafter, I had to take him to the dentist to demand an explanation for his bleeding cheeks (which he didn’t get any explanation for the past 2 visits over a period of 2 months).  I was angry with the dentist as he explained to my dad about certain possibilities of his bleeding cheeks, without giving him any diagnosis.  My dad being a retiree has all the time to be pessimistic & that was his choice after the last visit to the dentist.  He came home & claimed that the dentist suspect he had skin cancer.  The final straw came when he complained that the bleeding got so bad that his pillow and quilt cover was stained with blood just this week.

I thank God for Pat (a dentist) who gave me some advise and subsequently, at the dental clinic, a senior consultant finally came to see my dad & gave him an explanation for his bleeding cheeks.  The dentist whom my dad was seeing was a new guy & he didn’t even indicate that my dad had allergies on his appointment card!

Well, little things that concern my dad affect me – this was highlighted to me by Brenda whom I had lunch with recently as we were sharing life over lunch.   Recently, I had a conversation with my dad who explained that he’s pessimistic about his life as a fortune teller once told him that he’ll not live beyond 65 years of age.  I was so upset & told him not to believe & claim upon the lies.  We are a new creation in God and we shouldn’t live our lives in bondage by the lies sown by the devil.  I believe it has encouraged him somewhat, but am continuing to pray that he’ll desire for more in his relationship with God once again in the very near future.

I’m now trying to do some work & prepare some teachings but it’s been a draining week.  God help me & keep my spirit sweet always!
